This is a beautiful Campaign Writing Slope in rosewood. It has a fantastic colour, lovely grain, and the patina is outstanding, especially the top. It has a vacant brass cartouche to the lid ( which could be engraved) repeating the design around the key escutcheon, It also has brass banding and corner protectors.

The box opens to reveal a burgundy coloured, gold tooled leather writing surface/skiver, which is in very good condition. Interior fittings include two brass-capped ink bottles, a pen tray, stamp slope, nib box, and two inkwell compartments. There is also a secret compartment concealing three small drawers used in olden times to hide coins and small items of value. It has a functioning lock on a replacement key.
