A A magnificent Regency Writing Slope in exceptional condition. Circa 1820.

This very elegant Writing Slope has a lovely rosewood grain, good colour and patina. The attractive brass cartouche to the lid is blank so this could be engraved. There is a matching brass key escutcheon to the lock, brass edging, and recessed brass carrying handles. The box has a working external lock and an additional working interior lock to the top writing board. This provides extra security for the safe storage of documents and papers. A spare key is also provided for the main lock.

The Writing Slope opens to reveal a later fitted gold tooled leather writing surface/skiver in a lovely burgundy which is in very good order with no cracking on the fold. Interior fittings include, two original brass-capped inkwells, a pen tray and a stamp slope. There is storage space underneath each writing board and a letter web in the lower compartment.
